Candi Prambanan Klaten

Who doesn't know about Candi Prambanan Temple? Haha, You know about Prambanan? No? okay, I tell you more about Prambanan Temple. This temple has high-level architecture but no one knows how this temple built, who built this temple and with what this temple built.

History of Prambanan Temple

Prambanan Temple also is widely known as Roro Jonggrang Temple. This is Biggest Hindu temple in Indonesia and built in 9 A.D. One of Candi Prambanan temple (Siwa temple) has height 47 meters and you must know that Prambanan is not only one temple but several temples you can see at this location.

Based by Siwagrha Inscription, this temple start built in 850 A.D by Rakai Pikatan and Continue to be developed by Balitung Maha Sambu at the time Medang Mataram Kingdom era.

Story about Prambanan Temple

Local peoples near the temple have unique folklore and I want to tell you a resume about this story.

This temple made by Bandung Bondowoso and Bandung is Roro Jonggrang's kid. Because a problem, Bandung go away and become grow into adults man. Roro Jonggrang's cursed not to be old and cannot looks like older and stay looks like young Roro Jonggrang's. When Bandung come back, and he saw Roro Jonggrang, and he starts loving her. Bandung didn't know that she is his mother!

And Roro Jonggrang does not want Bandung to become her husband because she knew that Bandung is her son. Then Roro jonggrang make a strategy to makes Bandung cancel keinginannya to marry with Roro Jonggrang. Roro Jonggrang said she wants to marry with Bandung if he can build 1000 arca (statue) in one night. And Bandung Almost succeeded to makes 1000 statue (999 completed) and he failed to marry with Roro Jonggrang. Bandung got angry and condemn Roro Jonggrang to become the 1000th statue.

Candi Sewu

Candi Sewu or in English is Thousands Temples is Buddha temple built in the 8th century. This temple located eight hundred meters from Prambanan Temples. If Prambanan is Hindu temples, Candi Sewu is Buddha Temples. Candi Sewu is second biggest Buddha temples after Borobudur in Central Java.

This temple called by local peoples "Candi Sewu or Thousand temples" based by Roro Jonggrang folklore like Prambanan Temples. But you must know that Candi Sewu only has 249 temples and not thousand temples. Complex Candi Sewu located in Dukuh Bener, Desa Bugisan, Kecamatan Prambanan, Kabupaten Klaten, Jawa Tengah.

Candi Plaosan

Plaosan Temple is a name of complex temples located in Dukuh Plaosan, Desa Bugisan, Kecamatan Prambanan, Kabupaten Klaten, Provinsi Jawa Tengah. This temple located one kilometer from Candi Sewu and Prambanan. In this place, you can see stupa, Buddha statue, and Perwara temples (Temples as companion)

This Buddha temple built in 9st Century by Rakai Pikatan and Sri Kahhulunan King when Medang Kingdom (Mataram Kuno Kingdom) era.

Ratu Baka Site or Candi Boko

This temple located 3 kilometers south of Prambanan Temple. This temple located on a hill, 196 meters above sea level. This complex is activity place or ancient settlement place. This site allegedly was a palace based by on this place no religious building and in this place has a fortress and ditch. Relics of ancient settlement was found in this place.

Ratu Baka or King Baka name comes from local peoples legend. Ratu Baka means "Raja Bangau" and Ratu Baka is the dad of Roro Jonggrang.

Sari Temple

Candi Sari or Candi Bendah is Buddha temple located near to Prambanan temple. This temple built in the 8th and 9th century when Mataram Kuno Kingdom era. On the top of this temple, you can see 9 stupa looks like on Borobudur temple. Many relief on the wall of that temple and looks like relief on Plaosan temple. This place estimated for meditation by Bhiksu Buddha a long time ago.

Candi Kalasan

Kalasan Temple or Kalibening Temple is Buddha temple located in Desa Kalasan, Kabupaten Sleman, Provinsi Yogyakarta.

This temple has 52 stupas and this temple located 2 km from Prambanan temple. Based by Kalasan Prasasti found near Kalasan Temple, this temple built to give respect for Badhisattva Wanita, Tarabhawana and a vihara for pastor.

Umbul Ponggok

Umbul Ponggok is water destination located in Desa Ponggok, Klaten, Jawa Tengah. Umbul Ponggok is water spring and used for snorkeling, swim, take the interesting picture under water. You can feel pure water looks like on seawater, and you will swim with much colorful freshwater fish with different size and the very interesting fact is you can take many pictures with a unique background like a motorcycle, Vespa, bicycle under the water!

Candi Bubrah

Bubrah Temple is Buddha temple located in Prambanan Temple Attraction Park (Kompleks taman wisata candi prambanan) Candi Bubrah located between Temples Roro Jonggrang and Sewu Temples. This temples located in Desa Bugisan, Kecamatan Prambanan, Kabupaten Klaten, Provinsi Jawa Tengah.

Bubrah means broken, why this temple named broken temple? because when this temple found, this temple was broken. This temple estimated built when 9th century when Mataram Kuno Kingdom era. In this place, you can see several Budha statue (broken Budha Statue)

Candi Merak

Candi Merak located in complex Dukuh Candi Temples in Desa Karangnongko, Kecamatan Karangnongko, Kabupaten Klaten, Jawa Tengah. This temples built in 9st to 10st century when Mataram Kuno Era.
